Board of Directors

The bylaws governing the Parsons Area Community Foundation ensure an ongoing diversified Board of Directors of highest integrity through a careful selection process reflecting the population of the area. Each member brings his or her unique expertise and perspective to the operations of the Foundation. Bi-monthly board meetings are held the third Thursday of the month.

Mary Hines, President
Mary was raised in the South Mound area. She and her husband, Richard, live in Erie and have three grown daughters: Tracy Gilmore, Trisha Ahring, and Taryn Pierce, and seven grandchildren. Mary attended high school in Erie and took classes at Pittsburg State, MU, K-State, and graduated from KU with a degree in education. Recently retired, she taught English and Desktop Publishing at Erie High School. Mary enjoys gardening and canning, and using Photoshop and I-Movie to make videos and slideshows for special occasions. Being asked to join the board in 2014 came at a good time for her. She was ready to become more involved in community activities and was interested in serving on a board that has the funds to provide grants to make the community stronger.
 
Larry Steeby, Vice President
Larry is a native of Labette County attending LCHS, LCC, and Friends University for his education. He recently retired as the Parsons Fire Chief and is currently working for A & R Form and Fabrication. His wife, Teressa, and he have two sons, Heath and James. Larry is a member of Parsons Rotary Club and enjoys working, ranching, golfing, fishing and hunting. He agreed to serve on the board as he enjoys serving the community.
 
Mike Reed, Treasurer
Mike Reed, a native of Oswego received his degree in accounting from Pittsburg State. Now retired, his career was with Commercial Metals Corporation as management. He and his wife, Susan, have five children. Mike serves on the board for GPDA, on the restoration advisory board for KAAP, the Oswego Library board, and is a member of the Knights of Columbus in Oswego. His hobbies include cattle, woodworking, and mechanics. Mike chose to be a member of the PACF board as another way to give back to the community.
 
Sandy Babcock, Secretary
Sandy was born and raised in rural Parsons. She is a graduate of Labette County High School and Labette Community College. She and her husband, Richard, own The Home Store and Babcock Mfg. in Parsons, and Vision Woodworks in Cherryvale. They have two grown children, Mike Babcock and Melissa Brinkman, and two grandchildren. Sandy is involved with the Parsons Chamber of Commerce and currently serves as Chair. She is also on the SEK Point of Pride board and the PSU Interior Design Council. Being active in the community has always been important to her, and as a business owner, also a responsibility and privilege.
 
Jane DickJane Dick
Jane is a native Parsonian, graduating from PHS and LCC. She is president of Dick Enterprises, and until rececntly worked part time at the Stockyards Cafe. She and her husband, David, have three sons: Brian, Danny, and Kyle. She is involved with the Stella Wells Christmas baskets and Habitat for Humanity. A member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, she has also served on the St. Patrick’s School Council. As a lifelong resident of Parsons, Jane agreed to serve on the PACF board because she believes in its mission to improve the quality of life for the people of this area.
 
Grant SteinleGrant Steinle
Grant is a native of Parsons. He is the VP of Operations at Dwayne’s Photo. He obtained both his undergraduate BS degree in Computer Science and an MBA from KU.  He and his wife, Emily, have one daughter, Megan. His primary community activities include the community foundation and the finance committee at his church, Wesley United Methodist. He joined the PACF board in 1998 when Pete Hughes and Dick Combs persuaded him to join. Grant believes it’s important to try and give something back to the community as we all have a responsibility to help take care of each other.
 
Senta MeisterSenta Meister
Senta grew up in Williamsport, PA receiving a BA from Ursinus College and an MBA from Bloomsburg University. She is a CPA and works part time in Commercial Bank’s Financial Services. Her husband, Brad, also grew up in PA. They moved to Parsons for Brad to practice General Orthopedics in a small rural town. They have two  children, Alex and Sidni. Senta is an active member of St. John’s Episcopal Church and Chapter BS P.E.O. Sorority. Her hobbies are swimming, tennis and outdoor activities with her family. Joining the PACF board in 2008, she felt this was an opportunity to help make Parsons an even better place for young couples to raise a family.
 
Pat LaForgePat LaForge
A native Parsonian, Pat graduated from PHS and went on to KU to receive degrees in Civil Engineering and Business Administration. He is now president of LaForge & Budd Construction. He and his wife, Lori, have two children: Morgan and Adam. Pat is a member of St. Patrick’s Parish and serves on the Boards of JOBS, Inc. and Commercial Bank. Included in his hobbies are work, golfing, water sports and learning. He joined the PACF board in 1998, and feels the foundation is an important asset to the community. He is honored to serve and offer his time, talents and resources a to be a part of the good things the Foundation does for the community.
 
Gary WallGary Wall
A native of Parsons, since 1966 Gary has been the director of Carson-Wall Funeral Home. He is a graduate of Parsons Junior College, Pittsburg State, and KU’s Dept. of Mortuary Science. He and his wife, Shirley, have three grown children: Katherine, Emily, and Ned, and a growing family of grandchildren. Gary is active in the First Baptist Church, Parsons Rotary, a director at Commercial Bank, a trustee for the Labette Health Foundation, senior trustee for Pittsburg State University Foundation, and life trustee for Ottawa University. He enjoys family activities, reading and genealogy. As one of the founding members of PACF, he is committed to developing a culture of philanthropy in our area.

Cheryl is a native of Oswego and co-owner of Realty, Inc. with her husband Steve. She graduated from Oswego High School and attended PSU. She and Steve have two children, Janna Olson, and Ty Lewis, and five grandchildren. Besides following the grandkids in their school and sporting events, she enjoys horseback riding, creating gourd art, and golfing. She is active in the First Baptist Church, Oswego Historical Society and other civic groups. She views the PACF as the ultimate venue for giving back to a community and area that has given so much to her and her family. She once read there are three stages in life: “Learning, Earning and Returning.” Cheryl agreed to join our board as she feels she is blessed to be in the “returning” stage.
 
Charles KealCharles M. “Mike” Keal
Mike moved to Parsons at the age of 10 from Fort Scott, KS. He graduated from PHS and LCC and has taken classes at Pittsburg State. Retired now from AT&T, he is currently employed by Beachner Companies as their HR Director. He and his wife, Florence, have three married sons: Travis, Aaron and Joshua, and eight grandchildren. He is a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, and is active in many civic and sporting events. He enjoys golf and family activities.  Mike agreed to serve to on the PACF board because it is an organization that significantly impacts the community.
 
Nancy BoltNancy Bolt
Nancy was born and raised in Parsons, attended LCC, and is currently the Asst. Vice-President at Commercial Bank. She has two grown children, Jennifer and Jamie, and two grandchildren. She is a member of the First Baptist Church and Chapter BS PEO Sorority. She feels it is an honor to serve on the Foundation board in order to give back to the community that has played such an important role in her life, and has found it to truly be an educational opportunity.
 
Jennifer Gartner
Jenny grew up in Wellington, KS, moving to Labette County while in high school. She graduated from LCHS, attended Labette Community College, and obtained a BS in chemistry from Pittsburg State. She has taken further classes from Wichita State University. She and her husband, Rob, have four children: Tyler, Madison, Erica, and Ryan. She is a member of Altamont First Baptist Church and the National Honor Society. Her hobbies include arts, crafts, and watching her children’s sport activities. As a science teacher at LCHS, she has seen first-hand the positive effect of PACF grant funding has made for her high school science students and was honored to be asked to serve on the PACF board.

John was raised in St. Louis, MO. He earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology, and an MBA from UCLA. He and his wife Bonnie moved to Parsons for John to work at Tec Tank as a project engineer, and is now retired. They have two children, Jack and Linda, and five grandsons. John is active in Parsons Kiwanis and serves on the board of Parsons Community Development Corporation. His hobbies are gardening and travel. John believes strongly in the mission of the community foundation and as a board member hopes to help it grow in size and effectiveness.
 
Dennis Banning
Dennis Banning serves as Chief Financial Officer of Tank Connection. In the past he served at AO Smith Engineered Storage Products as an Assistant Controller and at Dayton Superior Corporation as Controller.
 
Tony FuentezTony Fuentez
Tony was born and raised in Parsons, received a BA in Communications from Washburn University and a Masters in Educational Leadership from Pittsburg State. Currently he works for the Parsons Recreation Department as the Sports and Events Director. Tony is married and has a son, daughter, and step-daughter. He serves on the Leadership Labette Board and coordinates and coaches the Parsons Junior Golf program. His hobbies are golf and playing cards. He joined the PACF board because he loves his community and wants to help make Parsons a better place.
 
Erin Martinez
Born and raised in Parsons, Erin is married to Ramon Martinez and they have two children. After graduating from PHS, Erin earned her associate degree in nursing from LCC, and both a bachelors and a masters degree in nursing from Pittsburg State University. She enjoys reading, listening to music, movies, and is active in her children’s activities. She is also involved with Stella Wells Christmas Baskets and the reinstated Mistletoe Marketplace. Erin joined the PACF board because of the positive impact it has on the community, and to bring awareness to others about the community foundation.
 
Megan Rexwinkle
Megan was born and raised in Pittsburg, KS. She received a degree in psychology from Pittsburg State and an M.S. in Human Resources from Claremont Graduate School in Claremont, CA. She and her husband, John, moved to Parsons where he is a CRNA for anesthesia at Labette Health. They have two children and are expecting their third in August. Megan is an active member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, PTO, and chapter B.S. P.E.O. She serves on the Labette Health Foundation Board and enjoys being involved with this great community. She agreed to serve on the PACF board as a way to give back to the community that has been so good to her family.
