Leonard Steve George, 80 of Parsons died at 7:46 a.m., Saturday, September 16, 2023, at home.
He was born August 6, 1943, at Columbus, KS to Leonard and Billie George. He grew up in Parsons and graduated from Labette County Community High School in 1961.
Steve worked in the family shoe store, George’s Shoe Box, up until he and his wife opened a Hallmark Store, George’s Gifts & Cards, which they operated together.
Steve enjoyed spending time with family, woodworking, and riding his Harley.
In 1963 he married Shyrel Roberts. They later divorced.
Steve married Janet Free on November 8, 1974, in Parsons, Kansas. In addition to his wife, Steve is survived by three sons, Mike George and his wife Angie of Humboldt, Roger George of Erie and Mark George and his wife Melissa of Salida, Colorado, one grandson, Caleb George and three great grandchildren, his sister Dixie Joseph and her husband, Ron and sister-in-law Cindy Spriggs and her husband Joe, plus several nieces and nephews.
