Bill Shields

Bill Shields, D.V.M., 87, of Parsons, died at 8:14 A.M., Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at his home.

He was born March 10, 1936 at Rural Dennis, a son of Harlan and Pearl (Drummond) Shields. He grew up and attended school at Parsons, graduating from the Parsons High School in 1954. He then attended Labette Community College for two years. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1957 and served in the 25th Infantry Division. Upon his discharge in 1959 he moved to Manhattan, KS and attended Kansas State University where he received his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. He graduated in 1964 and moved to Independence, KS. He practiced there until moving to Orangevale, CA in 1968. In 1970 he returned to Parsons where he operated his veterinarian clinic until his retirement in 2000.

On June 18, 1967 he was united in marriage to Madolyn Ann Townsend at Wichita

He was a member of the Westside Christian Church. He enjoyed raising and working cattle that he owned.
