Labette Health welcomes Hogsett as executive director of Foundation
Labette Health, in collaboration with the Labette Health Foundation Board, has selected Gary Hogsett as the new executive director of the Labette Health Foundation.
Hogsett received his bachelor of science and master of science degrees in engineering from Oklahoma State University. Upon graduation, he and his wife, Dr. Anne Hogsett, moved to Kansas as he accepted the position of Kansas state energy engineer, managing the state’s energy grant programs.
In 2012, he was elected to serve as the worldwide president for the Association of Energy Engineers. As an accomplished public speaker, he was selected to present at the World Energy Engineering Congress on nine occasions and has won 10 Toastmasters International public speaking competitions at the district and regional levels.
Throughout his career, Hogsett has held several positions in engineering, sales and management; as well as starting and maintaining several businesses. He has represented his communities as a city commissioner in Baldwin City and Independence, as well as serving as mayor of Independence in 2016.
“I was a city commissioner in Independence when Mercy announced that they were closing our hospital,” said Hogsett. “It was a frightening time for our community and I can’t thank Labette Health enough for building a new healthcare center with emergency services. I am honored with the opportunity to extend my gratitude by assisting with the continued growth and success at Labette Health and its locations throughout Southeast Kansas.”
In addition to serving as the executive director of the Foundation, Hogsett will serve as the director of community relations, allowing him to focus primarily on capital investment and visibility of Labette Health.
