Deadline approaches for PACF's Giving Tuesday Match Day
Preparations are underway for the Parsons Area Community Foundation’s ninth annual Giving Tuesday Match Day event.
Giving Tuesday, an international generosity movement celebrated with a day dedicated to giving back, is held annually on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving. To build the operational capacity of local organizations, PACF had its fi rst Giving Tuesday Match Day event in 2016. Since that time, more than $1 million has been raised during PACF’s annual giving event.
It is estimated that $3.1 billion was given in the United States during Giving Tuesday in 2023. PACF’s 2023 Giving Tuesday Match Day event drew in 203 donors who contributed gifts totaling more than $180,000.
PACF will host its 2024 Giving Tuesday Match Day event from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Dec. 3 at the Labette Community College Cardinal Event Center, 13th and Main. On this day, community members have the opportunity to learn about some of the agencies in the community and to build the endowment (long-term savings) of these local organization funds. Thanks in part to a grant awarded to PACF from the Patterson Family Foundation, all donations received during this year’s event will be increased through a $40,000 match pool, meaning a gift made on Giving Tuesday is multiplied.
“I encourage community members to come out and learn about the organizations serving those in our community – and to give if you can,” PACF Executive Director Becky Dantic said.
“We are extremely fortunate to have so many organizations providing for the needs of our neighbors. Giving Tuesday is a wonderful opportunity to familiarize yourself with these organizations and their missions.”
To participate in PACF’s 2024 Giving Tuesday Match Day event, a non-profi t must have an endowed fund established at the Foundation no later than Oct. 15. To open an endowed fund, a minimum $5,000 contribution is necessary; however, this amount may be requested to be returned to the organization once outside donations meet or exceed the initial contribution.
