Annual match day is Tuesday at Event Center

The Parsons Area Community Foundation again is having its annual match day on Tuesday at the Labette Community College Cardinal Event Center, 1306 Main.

Every year, on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, a global effort of generosity called Giving Tuesday kicks off the charitable giving season. According to PACF, Giving Tuesday began in 2012 as “…a day that encourages people to do good.” The foundation donates money annually to deserving area organizations and will hold its eighth annual match day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

On match day, charitable organizations have booths in the Event Center to educate the public about what they do and to build endowments through the foundation to help meet future needs. Funds are matched in various donation amounts. A minimum of $5,000 is required for an organization to establish an endowed fund at PACF and to participate in its Giving Tuesday match day event.

“Thanks to the generosity of our community, we raised $170,455 on Giving Tuesday 2022,” PACF Board President Jennifer Eichinger said. “We hope to surpass that amount this year.”

The foundation’s match day funds have helped provide necessary resources through Labette Assistance Center and Care Cupboard Hygiene Pantry, assisted with projects at the Parsons Arboretum and the annual Katy Days and provided assistance to Proud Animal Lovers Shelter (PALS), just to name a few.
