The Parsons Educational Foundation hosted the 16th annual scholarship banquet

The Parsons Educational Foundation hosted the 16th annual scholarship banquet on May 7 at Parsons High School with approximately 220 in attendance. This was the first banquet held since 2019 due to COVID-19 concerns. Scholarships had been awarded at a smaller ceremony that parents and family members were invited to during the past three years.

Thirty graduating seniors received $22,000 in scholarships from the foundation. Many other scholarships were awarded at the ceremony by the Labette Community College and other universities and groups that partner with the foundation.

The Parsons Educational Foundation was founded in 2003 as a non-profit organization and has supported USD 503 students and teachers through scholarships and teacher mini-grants. The foundation has an endowment of more than $500,000 and has invested more than $400,000 in the district through scholarships, mini-grants and other special projects.
