Over 100 residents of the greater Parsons area packed an event room at Commercial Bank on April 25 to celebrate many of the wonderful projects making our community stronger. The Parsons Area Community Foundation awarded annual grants to 34 nonprofit projects ranging from municipalities and law enforcement to youth and education.

Since its inception in 1996, the Parsons Area Community Foundation has invested over $2 million dollars into projects within a 25-mile radius of Parsons. This year, $232,748 was awarded from endowed unrestricted funds set up by donors, field of interest funds and funds designated by the donor for a specific charity.

“We deeply appreciate our donors, whose foresight and desire to improve the quality of life in our larger community made these awards possible,” said Mary Hines, Parsons Area Community Foundation Board President.

The Parsons Area Community Foundation received over 40 applications for grants this year. After careful review and deliberation by the 13-member board, funding was approved for 34 projects using funds to address a wide range of community needs.

“Thank you to all of our Board members and their families for spending so much time to consider all the grants and what they truly mean to our area,” said Joan Vitt, PACF Director. “The generosity of our donors coupled with the caring diligence of our board members makes the Parsons area unlike any other. I think we all agree there is no place like home, and that together we are stronger.”

The mission of the Parsons Area Community Foundation is to improve the quality of life in the greater Parsons area by increasing opportunities for charitable giving, connecting donors to community needs, and providing leadership on important community issues, now and for future generations.
